Vitiligo Support – Finding Help & Information

Although Vitiligo generally does not affect a person’s functioning daily life, it can have an impact on the mental and emotional health of an individual.

It’s important to take care of yourself as you make this journey, and get the answers to your questions, as well as find the support you need. You are not alone, and there are millions of individuals in the United States who you can talk to and share with as you learn about this condition.

Online

Vitiligo Support International is a hub for support of all kinds. As this condition affects people of all ages, it’s important to get the right support for your needs.

There is a page just for parents of kids with Vitiligo, as well as a page for kids who are affected, to get information and support from their peers. There is also a community forum to ask questions and have discussions about treatments, experiences, and to just talk to others who understand.

If you simply just need answers but aren’t ready to talk to others, the American Vitiligo Research Foundation can help. Their website offers support, facts, and has many resources.

In Person

Sometimes it’s not enough to just chat online, and maybe you need to find individuals who you can meet with in person. Vitiligo Support International can help you find support groups in your area. There are groups in almost every major city in America listed there.

The VR Foundation can also help you find groups in your area, especially if you live or are visiting outside of the United States.

Social Media

Social media is a great tool for finding individuals that you can talk to and confide in that will understand what you are experiencing.

The Facebook group VIT Friends Vitiligo Support Group is a non-profit organization that shares research offers support and connects people all over the country. You can also check out “Vitiligo Anyone?” for more help.

Vitiligo Support International also has a Facebook group.

Vitiligo Awareness is a great Facebook group for patients and loved ones to learn more about this condition, and how they can spread awareness. If you’re on Twitter, the handle @VitiligoSociety can offer support, as well as the hashtag #vitiligo.

Get Involved

If you or someone you love is affected by Vitiligo, it’s important to get involved and spread awareness. Awareness brings acceptance and tolerance, as well as research and knowledge about the treatment and curing of this condition.
